She has been working as the head of CECRM UVMP since 2020. For several years she worked at important foreign universities and scientific laboratories in the Netherlands, USA and France. She contributed to the introduction of CNS model systems, on which she tested treatment procedures using pharmacotherapy, cell therapy or biomaterials. The main direction are the therapeutic strategies limiting secondary damage, neuroinflammation, stimulating endogenous regeneration and improving functionality. Part of her research is currently focused on the field of cancer immunotherapy, specifically mammary gland tumors in dogs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She worked in the VEGA and APVV grant agencies several years. Currently, she is the president of the Slovak Society for Neurosciences at SAV, an honorary member of Laboratoire PRISM – Unit\u00e9 Inserm 1192, Universit\u00e9 de Lille in France, a member of the Federation of European Societies for Neurosciences (FENS), International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) and Trans European Stem cell Therapy Consortium (TESCT). She received the 2018 “Science and Technology Personality” Lifetime Achievement Awards in Regenerative Medicine and Neuroscience. In 2015, she was awarded the “J\u00e1n Jessenius Slovak Academy of Sciences Honorary Plaque” for her merits in medical sciences. She is the holder of the “Award for science and technology in the category for lifetime merit in the field of regenerative medicine and neuroscience for 2018” awarded by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic. In 2020, she received the “Ko\u0161ice Woman of the Year” award, and in 2021, she received the “\u0160tef\u00e1nik Prize” awarded by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic and the French Embassy in Bratislava for international scientific cooperation. In her scientific research, she focuses on the study of canine neonatal tissues (placenta, amnion, umbilical cord) as an alternative source of mesenchymal stem cells in regenerative medicine. She participates in the standardization of protocols for the isolation of mesenchymal stem cells of neonatal origin and their genotypic and phenotypic characterization. At the same time, she is working on the introduction of standard procedures for obtaining conditioned medium from neonatal mesenchymal stem cells. Through her research, she expands original knowledge in the field of acellular therapy aimed at suppressing the inflammatory reaction, stimulating the growth of nerve fibers and revascularization in damaged nerve tissue with the aim of inducing regeneration in cell culture models with subsequent application in therapeutic procedures for neurodegenerative diseases. She is a member of the Slovak Society for Neuroscience and the Slovak Anatomical Society. She was the successful investigator of the grant VEGA 1\/0571\/17 dedicated to the morphological identification of the connection of the CNS with the extracranial components of the lymphatic system under physiological and pathological conditions.
